Pierre Sauvageot

Pierre Sauvageot is a composer and the Director of Lieux Publics, the National Centre for Creation in Marseilles. Lieux Publics both hosts and co-produces performances from all disciplines as well as seeks to create new kinds of audience interface. Lieux Publics also provides a space to think about the various relationships between Art and the City. Since 2003 Lieux Publics has been running IN SITU, the European network for artistic creation in public space. Pierre Sauvageot maintains his commitment to the role of art in the urban context, and to European issues through his presence in the Groupe Europe which brings together a large number of professional organisations from the French performing arts fields. In Situ also takes parts in the structured dialogue process set up by the European Commission. After the long-term success of the Concert Public, in 2006 Pierre sauvageot created Urban Opera and the Mediterranean oXc (Odyssey) performed in public spaces.
