Catherine Lalumière

Mrs Lalumière has a Doctorate in Public law and Political Science and had both a career in academia and in national and European politics. She was a Parliamentary member for the Gironde department, Secretary of State and then Minister. As a Minister, she had the responsibility for European Affairs from 1984. She then became Secretary General of the Council of Europe between 1989 and 1994. Her European trajectory continued with two mandates as a Member of the European Parliament; she even sat as Vice-President of the Parliament during the second term. Her writing focuses mainly on the issue of Human Rights, Cultural Diversity and Equality between Men and Womnn. Madame Lalumière is currently President of the Relais Culture Europe and the House of Europe in Paris, as well as the French Federation of European Houses in France? She is also Vice-President of the International European Movement.
